Paladins at the Casbah

Paladins at Casbah gigposter

So happy with the chance, finally, to make a poster for the San Diego institution known as The Paladins. I’ve seen them dozens of times, mostly at The Casbah, but until now have never had the opportunity to print up a gigposter for them. So jazzed! The design goal here was to hark back to an early Sixties flat, complementary color vibe while not losing sight of their rock-a-billy roots. Also I have to say it was fun to try to run counter to their long history of posters which largely use classic rockabilly and underground art tropes in their graphic design. Playing with a simpler more formal layout helped bring a different feel to their visual presentation. Or so was the goal. Hope they dig it!

Print details:

Full color digital lithograph 11″ x 17″ on 12-point, acid free C1S coated cover.
Typefaces were Monterey, originally from Intertype, and Clarendon orginally from Fann St. but later digitally set by Letraset.
